Programme

Overview

Ring in the festive season with Bach’s Christmas Oratorio amid the glowing stonework of Holy Trinity Church. TPC and Endelienta Baroque join forces with soloist Allyn Wu for jubilant choruses, intimate arias, and the warm resonance of historic instruments. An unforgettable festive concert in a stunning Arts and Crafts masterpiece.Experience the radiant splendour of Bach’s Christmas Oratorio as TPC and Endelienta Baroque bring Parts I, II, III, and VI to life in the glowing interior of Holy Trinity Church. From the triumphant opening chorus “Jauchzet, frohlocket!” through tender recitatives and lyrical arias, each movement traces the shepherds’ wonder, the angels’ proclamation, and the faithful’s devotion. Soloist Allyn Wu infuses every vocal line with warmth and clarity, while the chamber ensemble’s period instruments—delicate strings, resonant continuo, and oboe d’amore—evoke the textures of Bach’s original sound world. Against the church’s intricate Arts and Crafts stonework and timber detailing, the music unfolds with both grandeur and intimacy, offering an evening of joyful celebration and reflective beauty.
