Programme
Overview

This extraordinary event is an exploration of outer worlds, inner space and the power of artistic creation. Curated by Music Director Matthias Pintscher and acclaimed production designer Luke Kritzeck, evocative music from three composers combines with theatrical immersive lighting to transport you on a multisensory journey. Luciano Berio’s Sequenza V pushes a solo trombone to its limits, and includes a single spoken word: “Why?” Edgard Varèse’s Déserts was the first piece to incorporate recorded tape as part of the score, using recorded and live sounds to explore both physical deserts and those of the human spirit. Alexander Scriabin’s Prometheus: The Poem of Fire was composed for orchestra and light organ — the composer’s invention — created to shape what you hear, what you see and what you feel.
