Celebrated violist Lawrence Power and pianist Simon Crawford-Phillips present six world premieres—selected from over 150 submissions by composers aged 16 to 82—each work offering fresh, inventive perspectives on the instrument’s possibilities. The program reaches its summit with the first performance of Julia Perry’s recently rediscovered Viola Sonata, a mid-20th-century masterpiece brought to light after decades of obscurity. Combining cutting-edge new commissions with a long-lost gem, this concert is a stirring tribute to the viola’s enduring legacy and its vibrant future.
