Join one of the UK’s foremost sitarists for an evening that transcends musical boundaries.Join sitar virtuoso Roopa Panesar for the world premiere of her new composition for sitar and guitar, a captivating fusion of Indian classical tradition and contemporary expression. Born in London and raised in Leicester, Roopa’s musical journey began at age seven under the tutelage of Ustad Dharambir Singh MBE, and has since taken her to stages from the Southbank Centre to the Chicago World Music Festival. Renowned for her command of raga and her collaborations with artists such as Talvin Singh, she now unveils a fresh dialogue between plucked strings, commissioned by the IGF for the La Leona project with support from the PRS Foundation Talent Development Network. In an intimate hall, Roopa and her guitarist partner will weave subtle improvisations and structured motifs, inviting listeners into a world where every carefully plucked string resonates with heritage, innovation and musical adventure.
