The legendary family ballet-fairy tale Cipollino, whose main characters and plot have been beloved by generations of audiences, has returned to its original stage at the State Kremlin Palace. The ballet was first presented on this stage over 40 years ago and immediately won the hearts of viewers.

The foundation of the magical stage action is the unparalleled choreography of Heinrich Mayorov, expressed through a multifaceted, humorous, and satirical language of dance, complemented by the magnificent music of Karen Khachaturian and the stunning scenography of Valery Levental. This outstanding “trio” creates a complete and immersive narrative, allowing the audience to fully enter the atmosphere of the performance.

Thanks to the magnificent music of Karen Khachaturian, one of the brightest and most talented representatives of the great Khachaturian dynasty of composers and conductors, the main ideas and plot of the ballet come alive in the imagination. The characters are fully realized and easy to understand, even for the youngest viewers, inspiring genuine delight and fostering an appreciation for beauty.

The breathtaking scenography by Valery Levental, set designer at the Bolshoi Theatre, who has created productions both in Russia and abroad on the world’s finest dramatic and musical stages, including Italy’s La Scala in Milan and Teatro Comunale di Bologna in Bologna, enriches the overall picture and gives the plot completeness, allowing the audience to deeply feel and fully immerse themselves in the magical stage world.

Cipollino is a true celebration of essential values: teamwork, relationships among loved ones, camaraderie and mutual support among friends, belief in the best, and the fight for justice.

This fairy-tale ballet, based on the work of Italian writer Gianni Rodari and performed by the artists of the Kremlin Ballet theatre, is intended for family viewing.
