Overview

Encountering an Exceptional Talent

Ten years ago, María Dueña's greatest wish was to perform on the world's most prestigious stages. This dream has since been more than fulfilled for the rising musician: Like few other violinists of her generation, she is currently receiving international acclaim and is already being compared to the young Anne-Sophie Mutter in numerous media outlets. High praise indeed! She has also long since established herself in the Rheingau region. Following several celebrated festival appearances, we are dedicating a special focus to her this year, offering her the opportunity to showcase her musical finesse in all its facets through several concerts. This evening at the Kurhaus Wiesbaden, she will perform with the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen – an ensemble whose outstanding interpretations have not only earned her the title of the first Orchestra in Residence in the festival's history, but have also secured a firm place in the hearts of the festival audience.

Located in the heart of the elegant spa city of Wiesbaden, the Kurhaus Wiesbaden is one of Germany’s most magnificent historic concert and event venues. With its grand architecture, luxurious interiors, and long-standing connection to music and culture, the Kurhaus has become one of the most iconic stages of the Rheingau Musik Festival.

Built at the beginning of the 20th century, the Kurhaus was designed as a prestigious social and cultural centre for the renowned spa resort. Its neoclassical façade, monumental columns, and richly decorated halls reflect the elegance of the imperial era, when Wiesbaden was one of Europe’s most fashionable destinations.

The heart of the building is the magnificent Kurhaus Wiesbaden Friedrich von Thiersch Hall, celebrated for its exceptional acoustics and atmospheric beauty. The hall provides an ideal setting for symphonic concerts, gala performances, and appearances by internationally acclaimed artists.

As one of the principal venues of the Rheingau Musik Festival, the Kurhaus Wiesbaden welcomes leading orchestras, conductors, and soloists from around the world. Its combination of outstanding acoustics and historic grandeur creates a unique environment where every performance becomes a special occasion.

The venue’s connection with music reaches back more than a century, with legendary composers and performers having visited Wiesbaden throughout its cultural history.
