About

The Rheingau Musik Festival 2026 invites music lovers to experience one of Europe’s most inspiring summer festivals, where outstanding performances unfold among vineyards, historic castles, monasteries, and elegant concert halls along the Rhine. From 20 June to 5 September 2026, the Rheingau region becomes a vibrant musical landscape, bringing together internationally acclaimed artists, exceptional ensembles, and unforgettable concert experiences.

For more than three decades, the festival has created a unique connection between classical music and the cultural heritage of the region. Venues such as Kloster Eberbach, Schloss Johannisberg, Schloss Vollrads, and the Kurhaus Wiesbaden provide extraordinary settings where the beauty of architecture and the power of live music meet. The 2026 edition continues this tradition with a programme of orchestral concerts, chamber music, piano recitals, and vocal performances.

A special focus of the 2026 season is pianist Hayato Sumino, who appears as Artist in Residence. Known for his exceptional versatility and ability to connect classical repertoire with contemporary musical influences, Sumino presents several concerts throughout the festival, demonstrating the creative energy of a new generation of performers. One of the highlights features Hayato Sumino with Die Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, conducted by David Danzmayr, at the Kurhaus Wiesbaden.

The festival programme brings together many distinguished artists of the international classical scene. Audiences can look forward to performances by violinist María Dueñas, appearing with the Bamberger Symphoniker under the direction of Jakub Hrůša, as well as pianist Lukas Sternath, who performs with the same orchestra and conductor in Wiesbaden.

The 2026 season also highlights chamber music and emerging talents. Violinist Guido Sant’Anna and guitarist Plínio Fernandes present a programme inspired by Brazilian and South American musical traditions, while ensembles such as Trio Orelon explore masterpieces of the chamber repertoire, including works by Brahms and Amanda Röntgen-Maier.

Beyond individual performances, the Rheingau Musik Festival is a celebration of musical encounters. Its programme moves effortlessly between great symphonic repertoire, intimate chamber evenings, and innovative artistic projects, offering audiences the chance to discover familiar masterpieces and new perspectives alike.

The Rheingau Musik Festival 2026 is an invitation to experience world-class artistry in a setting where tradition, nature, and imagination come together in perfect harmony.
